Just heard Todd Bertuzzi is on his way to Calgary to join the Calgary Flames
Calgary Flames sign free agent forward Todd Bertuzzi to contract
CALGARY - The Calgary Flames are adding some size and toughness to their lineup. The Flames have signed free-agent forward Todd Bertuzzi. He had 14 goals and 26 assists last season for the Anaheim Ducks. The six-foot-three, 231-pound forward has 580 points in 793 career regular-season games. The 33-year-old two-time all-star has also played for the New York Islanders, Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers and Vancouver Canucks. (The Canadian Press)
$1.95 million contract with The Flames is a steal. Looks like we will see Todd lots this year in Vancouver. The glory days of West Coast Express is just a dream.
More news on the Naslund fast exit out of town. I still say that Brendan Morrison should be made an offer. How long must the Canucks wait for Sundin to stop crying? 10 million a year is a no brainer.
Bertuzzi has all the potential in the world to be a superstar power forward, but I worry about where his brain is at. I don't blame him 100% for what happened in "the incident" but he's been messed up ever since then, and I'm not sure he can regain any composure. Best of luck to the Flames...this is a dice-roll that could come up 7s or snake eyes...
Predictions: Bertuzzi will score more goals than Naslund this year !!
I have a feeling Bertuzzi is going to be a hit in Calgary! When he gets "in the mood" to play - he can still do it! It Naslund couldn't score with the Sedin's - I don't think he will do it in New York either! As much as Naslund was a great Canuck - I think he is nearing the end!
$1.95 million contract with The Flames is a steal.
Give your head a shake. $1.95-mil is NOT a "steal" for Big Bert...what's the going rate for injury-plauged, under-performing players right now?
Bertuzzi's played 83 regular season games in the past two seasons, amassing a grand total of 51 points...Don't get me wrong, I think 'Tuzzi has a lot of hockey left in him, and maybe even a lot of good hockey left in him, but to say that's a "steal" is laughable. You probably think Jeff Finger was a steal too, at $3.5-mil/year.
Another change of pace will be good for Bert, and I think it'll help him being back in the gritty Northwest division...but I don't expect him to return to the form we saw in 02/03.
