In a previous thread during the month of May .. as news of Julie's departure hit the CHEK newsroom .. Julie responded herself to some of the innuendo and theories and speculation .. and told us exactly why she was leaving the Island .. headed overseas to the wonderful megalopolis of Vancouver. This may be another time for Julie to step in and answer .....
By the way .. Julie .. you made the right decision .. and kudos to you for generously recognizing that both your family comes before your career; -- being with your husband on the mainland as he furthers his career is a big sacrifice on your part .. but it will have long-lasting results not seen many times in today's world. Many of us remember you whilst you were part of Edmonton's television news scene; -- it is good to see that you have been given rave reviews while stepping out of the industry on the island. (see previous thread in May-0
Don't count on Colleen or Marybeth ... they've been there and done it ... you can never go back when there's so much to do where they are, and why would they want to do a schtick in an empty green-walled studio with only a robotic camera and an IFB to talk to. Someone's gonna have to have a strong stomach in that environment.
The mention of Bruce Kirkpatrick hastens back memories of a namesake who used to work at CHWK in Chilliwack. It was he, in fact, who kindly gave me an introduction to this industry in the late 60's; -- yes, it is that far back. However .. is this the same Bruce K ??? He was part of radio .. and now we are talking 'television' which means one needs to look the part .. rather than sound the part as on radio. I am just curious; -- I have not been part of B-C's broadcasting scene for almost 30 years .. and I would like to know whether this is the same gent who helped me enter this wonderful industry over 40 years ago.

It would appear so Ole_silver_top. According to Vancouver Broadcasters, he's one and the same.
The way things are heading at that station, do the really need a human at all? ... a disembodied mechanical voice coming through a speaker sitting on a box wouldn't surprise me. I've grown up watching CHEK 6 and it saddens me to see the direction it's taken.
