Imagine my surprise when I put my name into google search "MURRAY DAVID COLLINS" and found out some people were wondering what had become of me?????



Well to make a long story (short).....................



A friend of mine came over the other day and told me a lot about my radio days.I was wondering how he knew so much since (as far as I knew) he didn't even know I had been in radio.Well apparently he works for the navy and one day he put my name in Google search and up popped these comments from people wondering what had become of me?



Well here is the long & short of it everyone:



I am still alive

Will be celebrating my 58th birthday July 24th/2008

I live on Vancouver Island (Victoria) British Columbia

Never/ever going to live somewhere again that has snow

I am retired these days having been out of radio for about 7 years I am figuring? After C.K.D.A Victoria closed it's doors I tried one more stint in radio at C.K.D.M Dauphin, Manitoba over a period of 2 or 3 months playing country music during the Christmas season and absolutely hated it and returned to Victoria.

I deliver newspapers in the morning for the Times Colonist newspaper occasionally to keep me active.

My 2nd daughter got married on the may long weekend and I was in Medicine Hat, Alberta for the occasion..................

I actually cried!!

And "YES" everyone my other daughter Rhiannon was named after the Fleetwood Mac song from the 70's (I believe) called Rhiannon.I also have a son who lives in Duchess, Alberta.Rhiannon still lives in Red Deer, Alberta.

And yes I was indeed Santa Clause at the Mayfair Mall & Hillside Mall in Victoria until the Mayfair Mall decided to go with Santa's that had a real beard (Hummmmmm)

Yep I still have that deep voice.Some say I have balls?

I miss radio and may still do it one more time before it's all over however I really do not want to leave Victoria, British Columbia.

Other than that life is good.And some of you were absolutely right why did I continue to shoot myself in da foot all the time? Maybe I was rebellious.

I will always think of Radio Announcing as a gift from God and I loved every minute of my life as a radio announcer.

I would do it all over again in a heartbeat if I had the chance but perhaps I wouldn't get myself in so much trouble as i did? And I probably wouldn't at all those small market radio stations though I would have to say the highlight of my career was working in my home town (city) of Winnipeg working at C.K.R.C playing rock & roll in the evenings at one of the top rock stations in winnipeg, Manitoba.
