MEDIA NOTES: KRIS BURKHOLDER, CHRIS HAYDEN, CHUCK CHANDLER, DAINTRE CHRISTENSEN, GARRETTE MCGOWAN, DON LAWSON, SHEILA GARDNER MEDIA NOTES - published June 2, 2008
CHED helicopter traffic reporters Kris Burkholder and Chris Hayden are still around, but with the new Corus Entertainment assignments.
They are doing traffic reports from on high for Corus' other stations, Joe-FM and CISN. Before she goes up in the air, Kris co-hosts on CHED from 5 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Covering traffic for CHED/iNews 880 from the same 'copter are newcomers Daintre Christensen in the mornings, Garrette McGowan in the late afternoon.
•Among the reporters hired for iNew880, now all-news, is city news veteran Don Lawson, back from a stint on the west coast. Sheila Gardner, who once worked on air at K-97 (K-Rock) is back from Vancouver, co-anchoring the iNews880 morning reports. Don, have you quit smoking yet?
•Chuck Chandler may be down, but not necessarily out. The Cool 880 morning man was let go with the format flip to iNews 880, but he "auditioned" for the new Capital FM with a special 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday shift. The response, says the veteran Edmonton morning man, was "incredible."
Chuck may have felt the response was "incredible" but my sources tell me Newcap management didn't share the same opinion. Wait for some interesting changes at the old k-lite frequency.

Changes? On the 96.3 frequency? Really? I think when (if) they hire a full time on air staff, it'll be newbies from small town radio that'll work for 23 grand a year. My guess is they won't hire anyone and keep it the way it is.
Good for Garrett going to Skywords, definitly a good move. Any idea if his replacement on CHED is permanent or if he's just filling in until they hire someone else?
