Dr. Art Hister's very popular House Calls radio program has ended at CKNW.
Here's the station's soon-to-be-removed blurb:
"Sound impossible? Not when Dr. Art Hister opens up the telephone lines to listeners across Canada! Every Saturday, for one-hour, the Doctor gives his listeners the opportunity to discuss lifestyle, medical and health issues within the context of his helpful advice, or with the support of one of his in studio health experts. All within a light, lively and entertaining style that listeners have come to know.
With 17 years as host on CKNW and the Corus Radio Network, the House Calls show is the longest running health radio show in Canada! "
My prostate is aching at hearing of the bad news. Art should just buy that 5pm Saturday time. Remember Shell Busey was off the air on Sunday and now he's back. Corus will see the error and beg the good Dr. to return. Just you wait.
Perhaps we'll still be able to listen to Dr. Art on his regular Friday gig, BBC Radio 5 live, Up All Night program, 2:15 am GMT. Available live or on BBC Radio's Listen Again.
Go ahead Corus. Keep cutting features until you get the budgets driven down. I used to care. Now there are listening options like the great on-line programming available on BBC (live stream, on-demand for 7 days or selected podcasts)
BBC Radio 1 - New music BBC Radio 2 - Music & entertainment BBC Radio 3 - Classical, jazz, world, arts, drama BBC Radio 4 - News & current affairs, arts & drama, comedy, science, history, religion & ethics BBC Radio 5 - News & sports BBC Radio 6 - Music BBC Radio 7 - From the BBC Archives, comedy, drama, children's

I used to care too. Now the one and only 'NW program I listen to is The Bill Goode Show. Regardless without you and me listening 'NW is still doing well.
With our own Dr. Hister taking a well deserved break from his weekly House Calls program (but don’t miss him every morning at 7:40 with Philip Till!) we are pleased to announce the debut of the program “Wise Quacks” with Dr. Dave Hepburn and Dr. Rob Sealy on CKNW beginning this Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 10:00 am!
The "Dave Barry of medicine" and the "Patch Adams of the podium", Dr. Dave has previously appeared on House Calls, has a weekly column in the Vancouver Province that is now syndicated in more than 100 newspapers throughout Canada and the United States, and in 2001 Dr. Dave was awarded the CCNA George Cadogan Outstanding Columnist Award as Outstanding Columnist to Canadian newspapers (this award had never been won by a health columnist). In 2002 he was awarded Columnist of the Year in the Arizona Newspaper Association.
Dr. Dave was the sole medical doctor to the remote South Pacific Island of Tanna, Vanuatu in 1995, where he was a bush surgeon to 30,000 Ni-Vanuatu. He was an Olympic Games track team doctor in Atlanta in 1996 and was also Medical Director for gymnastics in the Commonwealth Games in 1994. He has served as team doctor for the Canadian Junior National Rugby Team and the Victoria Salsa Hockey Team. Dr. Dave is a former Canadian Air Force doctor and he served in the 1991 Persian Gulf War aboard the HMCS Huron. He is a proud father and lives, practices and plays hockey in Victoria, B.C., Canada.
Dr. Rob Sealy is the brains behind this partnership, loves the colour blue, and is also a practicing physician in Victoria.
