Taken from a "news release" I've seen on a couple different sites:

Clear Sky Radio Inc. is pleased to announce that its second radio station CJCY-FM “102.1 The Lounge” in Medicine Hat, Alberta began testing this morning at 9:15.

“The station will be in a mandatory three-week test period to fine tune our signal and audio quality” says Paul Larsen, President of Clear Sky Radio. “If all goes well during the test phase, we should be set to officially launch over the May long weekend”.

Final engineering work is being completed on the studio and office location and staff are expected to start over the coming weeks. “We will be making announcements between now and the May long weekend as we finalize the remaining positions for our on-air and support staff” adds Larsen. “We are excited to get our second station off the ground and serving Medicine Hat and providing a top quality radio station for the city and its residents”.

Clear Sky Radio Inc. was formed by Paul Larsen in 2005 with a vision to become a leading independently owned broadcast company in Western Canada. Clear Sky is licenced to serve Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. Its head office is in Lethbridge.

Good on 'em.  Hope it works out well for them.  Any word on how the Rogers outfit is doing down there?

One prominent jock that I know of in The Hat right now was referring to CJCY's testing yesterday as "CJCYawn".  But, as a "Lounge" format, it's not really supposed to be exciting I guess...

"Prominent jock"?  In Medicine Hat?  Is there such a thing?  Last time I was through the stations that were there were hurtin' units.  Mind you that was before the Rogers outfit.

Just driving between Regina and Calgary today and flipped through the stations in the 'Hat again.  Does the Rogers outfit have a midday guy?  I didn't hear a jock at all over the noon-hour.  The Clear Sky station's testing sounds pretty good although it hit good interference at Brooks.  Any rumours floating around about who's heading in that direction?
