Afternoon all.  I remember listening to a rather fiesty host on a forgotten station out of Seattle.  He left or was fired probably three years back.  I got to thinking about him today, and damned if I can remember his name.  I remember he was from NY, and had had a motorcyle accident sometime back.  Your help would be appreciated - thanks.

Vinne didn't get turfed from KIRO 710AM until 8 months ago.  He worked evenings starting at 7 pm.
Specializing in sports, I wouldn't call him feisty .. unless someone was knocking his beloved NY Mets.

No, it wasn't Vinnie.  I wish I could remember the station.  I received it up here in BC, he was on from 12-5 or something like that.  he was forever complaining about Seattle - and loved to argue.  I thought he was great, and his name has completely vanished from my memorybank.  He rode a motorcycle, dated a woman from CNN if memory serves, and had a show somewhere in Calif. before coming to Seattle.

I contacted Michael Hood of Seattle's Blatherwatch blog for help with this, and this is what he e-mailed.

"..... the guy's gotta be talking about the curmudgeonly Lou Pate, formerly on KIRO overnight; from the Bronx, spent years entertainingly complaining about Seattle, a great broadcaster. Never given a chance at the money shifts, he quit, and is now living in Miami, where he does fill-ins for syndicated talkers all over the country....."

Thank you Michael.

And just a moment ago, this e-mail arrived in my in-box.

Ron,

How are you? I received an e-mail indicating that you were inquiring about a former KIRO talk show host that may or may not have been me.

I hope things are going well for you in the Great White North. If there is any way I can be of assistance to you, please let me know. Thanks.

Hey, thanks a ton to all of you - Including the moderator and Lou himself.  His program was one of the best I've heard, and his hilarious rants kept me awake on many a long night shift playing with the big toys at the mine.  It's a shame Lou was never offered a better time slot at 710, as his broadcasting skills superseded anything I heard during the daytime.  Here's hoping he's enjoying the sunshine and the proximity to his beloved NY on the E. coast.  Thanks again to you all, and best wishes from your neighbor in BC.
