Is it me, or has Jack Regina gone more...Jack ish?  They still use the "Greatest Rawk of All Time" branding, but are playing more classic hit esque music.  Listen for yourself http://www.jackfmregina.com

JACK's all sound the same to me. I looked at the rotation on the 1:00 PM hour the list contains the same music I would hear on a JACK Vancouver. Now tonight at 11:09 PM PST. They have Alice Cooper on and the show is full solid ROCK and I'm really enjoying it.

Alice is on from 10:00 - 3:00 AM they run LOTS OF USA spots during the show.

Not all Jacks (plural, no apostrophe) sound the same.  In Regina, Jack is Rawlco, not Rogers.  So if they've gone more "Jack ish" it's because their (not there) ratings suck ass.

Jack Toronto plays "Toronto's best rock variety." Everytime I listen it is all rock music. Van Halen, R.E.M, Airbourne, Kid Rock, Nickleback and lots more rock bands. No Depeche Mode, UB40 and all that other crap that I hear on other Jack stations. even as a Jack Nation member I take the music surveys and it is all really good rock music on there. I really enjoy the variety of rock music there. Even some of the announcers used to work at Q107 at one point too.

Two reasons.  First, Rawlco rarely lets their staff see "real" numbers.  It is easier to get a key to the GM's office than get into Airware.  Second, Harvard has taken the market (combined share of 43.6 vs Rawlco 34.1) and aren't much for horn tooting in forums.  I have good friends at Harvard so I will toot for them.

S108 (S407) Regina A25-54 M-Su 5a-1a Central
CFWF The Wolf  21.8 (21.5)
CIZL Z99 15.9 (19.7)
CHMX Lite 92 13.1 (13.5)
CKCK Jack 10.2 (10.3)
CKRM 8.7 (10.2) (not including huge rural audience and owning A55-Dead)
CJME  8.0 (6.8)

It depends on if you want the ENTIRE CKCK history or just since Rawlco took it over and flipped it to FM?

As an AM station, it was AC until the early 90's and then it was oldies until it signed off in September of 2001.  Rawlco took over the call letters when CKRM moved up the dial from 980 to 620 (CKCK's old freq) and CJME moved up the dial from 1300 to 980 (CKRM's old freq).

In 2002, Rawlco launched CKCK-FM as "Rock 94" (Classic Rock) and then in 2005 they flipped it to "Jack FM" - but it's always been a "rock-slanted" Jack FM...not like the pop-based Jack's in Calgary & Vancouver (at the time).

I thought after Rock 94 failed they launched with a pop based Jack? No?

Nope...

It kinda started out as a broad-based, deep rock station (new stuff, and older stuff, with some surprises thrown in like Elvis and Johnny Cash.)
Then it migrated to being straight up classic rock.
Now, it sounds a bit more like a traditional Jack.

Am I the only one who thinks that they're 4 or 5 years too late? Jack is wilting quickly in Calgary. Classic rock was huge in the 90's.....The 80's have made a big comeback this decade. When the 90's make their comeback, I'll be listening to a lot of talk radio.

So I guess the next obvious question is....how long until management starts feeling the heat after consistantly getting stomped by Harvard book after book? Jack's in the basement, CJME isn't far ahead and the bread & butter Zed can only manage a 3rd place finish after adding personnel. The Hill's must be laughing, and confident that Saskatoon won't be much of a fight at all.
