With 96.3 FM back in the news with its latest switch to classic pop music as Capital FM - a glance at the dozens of well-known personalities who, at one time or other, did their stint at 96.3 be it with K-Lite, Mix96, 96X, Big Earl or now Capital-FM.

What a piss off. You pull a guy out of a market he's kicking ass in (Loch at Power), give him the reigns of a struggling station, and then fire him for a bad book.
Maybe they should blame whoever made the decision of puting a multi million dollar broadcasting facility in a place the majority of locals in Edmonton do their best to avoid (west ed), rather than the people who are doing their best to pay the bills there.

Poop sound.
It would seem there have been a whole lot of bad decisions made in that building over the past few years. I wonder who gets the goat horns next?

Yeah, it's terrible when they blindfold a guy, hogtie him, make him leave a company and move to Edmonton to work for you while he's pleading not to make him do it.
Winnipeg ain't Edmonton, and the Power format is bit different then a Classic Rocker. You take the money, you take your chances.
All comes back to the guy in the big chair. Randy Lemay seems to have done a remarkable job of removing himself from any responsibility for the continued decline of his cluster over the last few years. Either he's not bringing in the right people or not giving them the freedom to do what's necessary to make the products better. Either way, at some point the leader has to stand up and be accountable, not only for the performance of the stations, but for the level of turnover inside the building (all departments).
Yes, at the end of the day you are only as good as your leader. I think the mistake of lochin came from a decision made buy Howard Kruger....who is also no longer with the company...
But who hired this Howard guy? Even Dave Nonis (Canucks) and John Ferguson Jr (Leafs) were fired. At some point the buck has to stop at the GM's desk. I don't know a lot of radio executives but how many GM's have never been on the air? Is a life long sales guy the best one for that job? I don't know the guy and from what I've heard he's very nice but it seems like a huge mess since he took over.
my favorite quote from a gm i've worked for: "i don't care or understand how things get done, all i care about is them being done my way and we all have fun doing it."
As one of those many, many personalities that have called 96.3 home I have to say I also have scratched my head many times at the decisions made there. Things were MUCH better with the ERG when we were on 99 st. and Steve Jones had his office there.
I think that with Jones back in @ Newcap, things will turn around for the ERG.
I always found Randy Lemay to be a pretty awesome guy... however, I'm not sure someone who spent his time in sales should be expected to oversee the creative departments of a radio station... that is best left to a programmer/ or someone who has been behind the mic.
I really hope things turn around for them, either way.
