Wow was my earlier prediction off. Who knew CBC would take this one? And how about QR dropping 3 points since last time around? Wonder if heads will roll on that morning show change right before the last book came out?
So the AM and FM are not counted as one in ratings? 1010 is 99.1, so together, they make 14! And I don't think that includes the power boost CBR-FM recently did-so maybe even higher numbers on the way?
The CBC "win" looks more like a statistical blip to me than anything. (7.3 to a 9.8 is a big jump for any station... never mind one that was a 6.7 just one book ago.) The simple answer for CHQR (IMHO) is that the folks who got books this time around that listen to information and talk were CBC listeners rather than CHQR ones... It's the great beauty of the imperfection of BBM.
To me, the bigger stories in this rating appear to be the slow decline of CJAY (8.9/198k/239k to a 7.3/157k/190k S1 to S1), the seeming backwards progression of Energy (3.7/79k at launch in S2 to 2.6/74k in S1), and the softening of Country 105 (10.9/161k/204k to a 9.5/148k/172k S1 to S1).
While a stodgy. rambling, gas-filled, non-V/T'ed CBC picks up the chaff and runs off with it, the rest cling to their contemporary, corporate formats and falter.... noticeably.
