Chris Gordon named president of CHUM RadioBy THE CANADIAN PRESSApril 2
TORONTO - Diversified multimedia company CTVglobemedia says it has appointed
Chris Gordon as president of the company's CHUM radio division, effective immediately.
Gordon, a 25-year broadcasting veteran, joined CHUM Radio 10 years ago and was most recently vice-president and general manager of the company's Ottawa-based CFRA operations, including the A-Channel TV station.
Before joining CHUM, Gordon held senior radio positions in London and Calgary.
"Chris brings a unique mix of skills as a successful operator of a combined radio-TV station group and as a strategist with well developed insights into the future of the fiercely competitive Canadian radio industry,"
Ivan Fecan, president and CEO of CTVglobemedia, said in a release Wednesday.
"He is a proven team builder and we're proud to have Chris in this role as we look forward to growing this important part of our business."
Gordon replaces
Duff Roman, a former radio personality, who had been acting head of the CHUM Radio group since it was acquired by CTVglobemedia last year. Roman will remain with the company.
CTVglobemedia owns the CTV television network, The Globe and Mail newspaper, CHUM Radio and has a stake in Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors and the Air Canada Centre.
CTV owns and operates 27 conventional stations across the country and has interests in 35 specialty channels, including sports channel TSN. CHUM operates 35 radio stations throughout Canada.
CTVglobemedia, formerly Bell Globemedia, was formed in 2001 by BCE Inc. (TSX

CE) and The Thomson Corp. (TSX:TOC).
Today, The Woodbridge Co., an investment firm for the Thomson family, owns 40 per cent of CTVglobemedia, the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board has 25 per cent and Torstar Corp. (TSX:TS.B) holds 20 per cent.
