I heard Christy Clark doing some interviews on the Chuck Cadman issue on her show and all through the segment I kept on imagining her husband (Mark Marrisen) who is a head honcho for the Federal Liberals emailing comments and questions to ask to her Blackberry.
It's probably not happening but I don't think people in the know will ever believe she can be impartial even if she doesn't share an opinion personally.

She shouldn't be impartial.  Great talk show hosts are opinionated.

If she's forward about her POV, and expresses it, there's nothing wrong with it.

That's what's missing from CKNW talk.  People who actually have opinions on things.

Opinionated is a fantastic trait for a talk show host - as long as the audience knows all. Fame is fickle.

Seems she never answered the questions regarding whether or nor shes planning to run again- but her PR , or whomever it was , says its doubtful. This last promo was great, country wide PR for her. While the conversation in the following link was going on, all sites that had shown her as principal were deleted, even from Google- rather quickly. To this day, no one seems to have heard her talk about who her husband is , or his role in the Liberal party, on her show.

Something is fishy here.  On her website she says  "I am not a principal at Burrard Communications (my husband is the sole owner)."

Yet in the archive of Burrard Communication's website it says they are both equal partners as of 8 months ago.

Well, I know for certain that both CKNW and the Broadcast Standards Council have received complaints about a registered lobbyist for Translink hosting a show where transit and Translink are regularly discussed and not at least making sure everyone is aware that she is not without a vested interest in such matters.
There may have been some readjustments made in terms of Burrard Com's paperwork to head off potential 'unpleasantness' besmirching darling Christy.
Could be.

As  we all know, where there is smoke, there is usually fire.

I printed off hard copies of all of the links where she herself indicated she was an owner right up until the night/day we had that discussion on her site. Anyone interested is more than welcome to them. Perhaps they can get some real answers.  She will not speak of it, her friends/colleagues etc defended her, and they passed me off as one of Bill tielemans "hacks", rather than just someone who is simply wondering about the motivations behind an obvious lie, and then the prompt eradication of the public records, of that lie. A company search pulled right after that discussion, shows Mark as sole current owner,  but the registry informed me that any recent changes made regarding owners , no longer need to be documented on the company records. Very convenient .

Her husband is still lobbying the govt, for another company :
http://www.tcm-mec.gc.ca/China/delegatearea/RCICGI-en.asp - thats another story - most recently contacted Colin Hanson. His contract with Translink officially terminated Jan 15th.
https://eservice.ag.gov.bc.ca/lra/report.jsp

Regardless of her "independant thought and own opinions", she will talk about all these governement related issues that could have an impact on Mark's success as a lobbyist. Its all about public perception.

And will we ever see a story, in a publication that the average joe reads, like the Province, or the Sun,about all of this? Unlikely, and so her "regular joe listeners" are never likely to find out about the marriage connection to a major liberal power, that becomes much more relevant when listening to her prattle on about political matters.

She's a former Liberal cabinet minister. Unless her listeners are totally clueless, they already know which way she goes on issues.

What?? So broadcasters can't have a point of view??  At least she's not one of those O'Rielly or Limbaugh right wing types.

I don't mind opinions.
I don't even mind opinions that are contrary to mine.
I mind opinons that are ALWAYS predictably contrary to mine.
In other words, be real, be honest, and don't be predictably right or left-wing.
That's what I respect.  And trust.

Bakerboy:

The reference to her being a partner on Burrard's website was changed when she started her own stand-alone show on CKNW back in September.  She's no longer even listed as a consultant on the Burrard website - it says that Burrard Communications arranges her speaking engagements and charitable events.   Did it not occur to you that the other bios that called her a "partner" you were complaining about were outdated, and were fixed when you pointed them out?
