The 5th Annual Peace Region “Have a Heart Radiothon” has come to a conclusion and was a rousing success, raising over $75,000. Energy FM and 890 CJDC were live on location for 12 hours on February 14th in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John raising money for both the Fort St. John and Dawson Creek Hospital Foundations. “It was a phenomenal event. Friends and neighbors, community, local businesses and corporations really rose to the occasion in the Peace Country.” Arlene Thorpe, Dawson Creek and District Hospital Foundation Manager.
“Once again the community stepped up to show their support. I’m proud of Grizz and Derek Hand who raised significant funds by having their heads and other parts shaved, all in the name of a good cause.” Jay Terrence, Program Director Astral Media Radio; Peace Region.
“Thank you to the best listeners in the world. It was an absolute pleasure to work with the Hospital Foundation and the entire region. The high part for me was when we achieved the goal. My daughter, Meaghan, needed to be in a neo natal travel isolette unit when she was born, so this one tugged at my heart strings.” Cory Michaels, CJDC Radio Announcer – Dawson Creek
“The community raised $10,000 to tame & shave the Grizz!” - Meaghan Michaels.
“The Fort St. John Hospital Foundation is pleased to be associated with Astral Media Radio and the Radiothon event. We hope to partner with Astral for more events down the road.” Janice Isberg, Executive Director Fort St. John Hospital Foundation
“ We are overwhelmed by the listeners’ generosity, loyalty and response – thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make it such a successful Radiothon.” Krysta J. Radio Announcer Energy FM - Fort St. John
“It was a record breaking fund raising event. We exceeded our overall target. Astral Media’s group of stations in the Peace Region are very proud to be involved with fund raising efforts for the Hospital Foundations in both Dawson Creek and Fort St. John.” Ed Ylanen- General Manager, Astral Media Radio, G.P.
