About 40 percent of Canadian homes now have more than one PC, and unfortunately, getting them all operating nicely on a home network is still not what you'd call a trivial operation. Well, maybe it is for you, but you're in the minority. Microsoft Windows Home Server is a software-hardware combination currently available from such manufacturers as Hewlett-Packard. It's designed to make the process of setting up and maintaining a home network the kind of thing with which ordinary mortals can easily deal, with automatic backup for all PCs on the network (up to 10 of them), comprehensive health monitoring which can help head off potential problems, and selective remote access to files. Microsoft's Barry Zeidenberg talks about WHS here. More from Barry Windows Home Server's Information Page |
