After 17 years, “The Montel Williams Show” will cease production in May.
The syndicated show, known for uplifting personal stories and psychic readings, was up for renewal at the end of this season. Variety reports that key Fox-owned stations opted not to extend their contracts.
But some other stations have renewed, so CBS Television Distribution will offer the “Best of Montel” for the fall of 2008.
“We have been honored to have Montel as a part of our family for the past 17 years, and we’re very excited that Montel will live on through these ‘best of’ episodes,” John Nogawski, the president of CBS Television Distribution, said in a statement. “Stations continue to embrace Montel and his message of social responsibility that has been the cornerstone of his show.”
