Happy 4th Birthday
JACK FM Victoria!!!
103.1 FM

How quickly time passes by. It was on this day in 2004, JACK FM Victoria was turned-on. Victoria's JACK is not like it's Vancouver sister station. Our Victoria JACK is a different JACK, a JACK who seems to have more of an Island home-brewed taste for the finer side of the musical ledger, along with personable presenters througout the day. JACK FM Victoria really is music you want to hear ....

Congratulations JACK FM Victoria, and continued success
"your friends at Puget Sound Radio"

From Today in Broadcast History on Puget Sound Radio dot com

On this day in 2004 at 4 pm, Rogers switched one of its Victoria stations CHTT (HOT 103) FM, the former CJVI AM, from a Top 40 station to JACK FM "playing what we want."  First song played was ZZ Top's "Sharp Dressed Man."

I took these pictures of the renovations to the Jack/Ocean building last week. Note the removal of the old CJVI AM 900 logo:

How does this station do in the ratings in Vic?  Have they been like some of the Jack's in Canada and dropped a fair bit of audience or are they one of the stronger ones that have held a large share ?

Just wondering if that particular CJVI logo was the one brought in by John Ansell in 1973 when the station went country. If so, I believe the Pacific dogwood is incorporated within the logo.

Remember when CJVI used to post up the news near that doorway?

^Yes, that was a handy way to get news updates in the pre-WWW era. Gone the way of the bustle as my grandmother used to say.

I was assuming that old logo was from the 80s.
