Interesting this morning listening to JACK FM (I suspect it would be the same on the other Rogers stations and 660News) and hearing Jennifer Ryan doing traffic sounding live in the studio (about 6 AM), and then live on the road (6:30 AM), and then live in the chopper (7 AM on).  This is the first time I have actually heard anyone other than Capt. Kirk doing the chopper-based reports when he is sick or on vacation.  I hope this continues for both AMD and PMD.

Rogers traffic reporters filling-in for Capt. Kirk are on the ground, and say "FOR the 660News helicopter".

IMHO; ex-Rogers sports kid Josh Groberman's helicopter reports on Corus are much clearer and informative. Better still - the intersections he refers to actually exist!

DJC mentioned on-air this AM Capt K is very sick-but not serious.   He will be back.  Get well soon Al.

Jennifer was up in the egg beater on Monday -but was on the ground yesterday and this AM.  Weather was OK-perhaps she was not comfortable in the air after the first day.  Her reports are excellent.  Sounds natural -starts out with a reference point so the listener can follow along and she seems to be into it.  Almost like she has been at it for awhile.

Josh Grobberman sounds great also.  Too bad 50% his report is ad copy nobody cares about.   Hopefully he stays around for awhile.   Keep up the good work folks.  It's a tough job-

I've heard Jennifer up in the chopper before.  I don't think this was her first time up in the air.  With the small chopper Rogers has, I'm sure it was a mechanical problem.  They happen.  I agree about her reports.  She sound confident.  A nice change for when Kirk is away or sick.

I don't mind Groberman's traffic on QR and I can tolerate the ads on the radio.  What I do have a problem with is the chopper reports on Global.  When I watch it on Global they don't sync them with studio traffic, and it seems each report from the chopper is the same; 30 to 45 seconds, a shot of a roadway, commentary on that specific stretch of roadway which offers nothing really enlightening or useful, and then an ad.

Sync up the traffic reports like they do on the radio and offer more information possibly by taking the ad announcements out of the traffic and put them in a voice-over piece leading the next commercial.

That's how the traffic reports are set up on Global's morning show in Calgary... the "weather and traffic on the 7's" are supposed to have detailed traffic reports with ALL the major incidents, and the chopper is supposed to point out specific traffic problems (because between 6:30am and 8:30am there's probably a traffic report every five minutes between ground and chopper). And I'm sure everyone's familiar with how the commercial spot is supposed to be delivered on CTN reports...

Personally I like having traffic reports on TV.  Having that Panisonic mounted on my dashboard gives me a place to put both my cellphones and my breakfast borito within easy reach.  Although I do worry I might one day take out an eye on the rabbit ears.

Josh Groberman is good and my sources at Corus tell me he's only 18 years old!  Wished I could have sounded that good at 18
