Talk the TalkBy JENNY FENIAK EdmontonSun.com Sunday December 30th, 2007 After a long month of working his good will around town, the Edmonton Sun's Graham Hicks found some Christmas cheer of his own. Hicks and Magic 99's Rob Christie came up with their own social event called the "Art of Conversation". Once a month, they choose a destination and invite all kinds of lively, interesting individuals to swing by and simply visit. There are no cellphones ringing, no BlackBerrys or laptops - just good old fashion chit-chat. The 21st installment of the "Art of Conversation" fell just before Christmas, so a festive Christmas gathering was arranged downtown at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald. It was the perfect destination, with uncongested shopping nearby, and the Hotel Mac was done up with all kinds of gorgeous lights and trees, providing a winter wonderland-like setting. Many guests make a point of attending every "Art of Conversation", regardless of what corner of the city it's happening in. Others simply came by because of the social time of year and yet, a few were making their first appearance at the event as a guest of someone else. Laughter bubbled through the luxurious lounge and the warm, friendly crowd seemed to decide unanimously that this special Christmas gathering should carry on until all guests were done and gone. http://www.edmontonsun.com/Entertainment/Columnists/Feniak_Jenny/2007/12/30/4745801-sun.html |
