Did anyone catch Dan rip Tommy for being a homer last night? I am no fan of Tommy, but Dan was pretty aggressive. He also didn't seem to have a problem with the homerism when it came from the black tower.
Dan is also a Giants cheerleader, but that seems to be fine in his book.

Didn't hear Russell's rip but, really, by now I think Canucks fans have a pretty good idea of who Tom is pulling for. As the colour guy, Larscheid gets that latitude - Shorthouse, as the play-by-play guy, has to be a lot more measured, otherwise he's the one who gets the home label. But even back in the day, Jim Robson was called a homer, and I don't know of a more even-handed play-by-play announcer than he was. |

Stay tuned for tonight's Sportstalk when Dan Russell will reveal a touchdown is worth 6 points, the NHL season is 82 games long and there are 24 hours in a day.
If this was a national broadcast it would be an issue, (ie Cherry loving the Leafs on the CBC) but consider the audience - Canuck fans are the ones listening to Tom and Shorty.
Shorty calls the play and Tom is the voice of the fan. Other than doing a recap of the tv replay (even on the radio - how many times have you been in your car and he says "see? right there!" - no Tom, I can't see, I'm on Boundary in my car), his schtick is over-the-top fanatic.
Fine, so be it. Dan going off on the guy is like being choked that Christmas only comes once a year.
It is the way it is Dan, just stick to your whining about "circus time."

Good call on the Circus Time jab... He has been pushing that phrase for years now. In a not to subtle effort to make it a catch phrase. So far he is the only one saying it. 2 things about Dan Russell...1. he was the biggest "homer" in this towns sporting history, that was until the Canucks chose Shorthouse as their new play by play man.. from that point on he "became objective".... 2. He benefits greatly from the fact that managment at the TEAM 1040 has the worse sense of talent, and they have no one to oppose him and his 10-12 slot |

The sole reason I listen to Russell is because of Blake Price. The only thing that makes me tune in to the TEAM during that slot is Tomlinson, who I think is very solid. But the show goes down hill when Price starts blathering away. |

I will never understand why the team picked up Price and Paterson, the old fourth liners at AM 730. |

Isn't it fun to listen to the two "experts" Russell and Ward show their bitterness nightly. |
