On Monday night's Sportsnet Pacific's broadcast of the Vancouver Canucks/LA Kings game, Nick Kypreos was featured during the second intermission.
The veteran Sportsnet analyst was giving his take on Kevin Bieksa, who he called his "Stand-up" player on the team.
Kypreos claimed Bieksa was a big reason for Roberto Luongo's success last year, and since he went down with an injury November 1st of this season, the team hasn't been the same. He was supposedly referring to the fact the Canucks have been suffering without him.
A quick look at the standings in the Western Conference will tell you something completely different.
After a horrific start to the season, the Canucks posted their third-best November on record, and now sit atop the Northwest division. This, of course, all came about AFTER Bieksa went down.
My point isn't about Bieksa but about Kypreos himself. Is it no wonder us westerners wonder about the Eastern-centric focus of the NHL when a national broadcaster can't get his facts straight? This complete lack of information is inexcusable for a major sports network, and Kypreos should at least do his homework before making one of his patented bold statements. |
