Those are maybe the lamest mascots I've ever seen, with the exception of Marty the Marmot of course. |

I just looked at them again. They're getting uglier. I hated the Inukshuk when I saw it introduced at the '06 Winter Olympics, but now, comparing it to the mascots, it looks brilliant! |

Remember the target audience, gang. A bunch of whiney old radio peeps are not the focus of VANOC, their children and grandchildren are.
The kids at the Surrey unveiling today were jumping around like Dora and the Wiggles were on the stage.
The mascots are cute and the kids love them, therefore VANOC wins.
That said, they do look more like they're from the Island of Misfit Sanrio Toys - which is unfortunate, but they're darn cute. |

i think they're great! pretty cute. and yes...the demo is the kids...and from what i've heard the kids love them.
they're mascots, they're supposed to be cartoonish and fun.
i have no problem with them. i do have a problem with people who are getting completely bent out of shape over them though.

Without looking it up, does anyone remember the mascot from the last winter olympics? Probably not. It IS funny to watch people get all up in arms about something that's not all that important, however |

I don't think anyone is "up in arms" over them, just expressing an opinion that they look more like anime than anything else. And while I do think they're uber lame, you're right, they'll be forgotten 10 minutes after the closing ceremonies. |

I was watching the Noon News today on BCTV...they had invited people to send emails asking for their opinion on the mascots. And they got plenty! That's where I got the "up in arms" part...there were some really negative, outraged responses there. I think they found one or two postives out of the many they received. |

They're not bad... there's been worse ones used at other Olympic games... |
