(Excerpted from William Houston in the Globe & Mail Sept. 21)

As part of its buyout of CHUM, CTVglobemedia acquired Team 1040 in Vancouver, an all-sport radio station that features Don Taylor, a co-host on the afternoon drive.
Here's the issue: CTVglobemedia owns TSN.
Taylor works for TSN's rival, Rogers Sportsnet, as an anchor in the Pacific region.
Will CTVglobemedia keep Taylor on the show?
He's a popular sports personality in Vancouver, but his radio co-host, David Pratt, is the star.

They better, people love the taylor. It would be a mistake not to keep him. As for Pratt being the star... maybe in his own little world.. but thats just me, I'm not that fond of him.

Perhaps they'll re brand The Team to TSN radio just like ESPN? CTV would love to have the Canucks associated with TSN. If that happened we'd have to say goodbye to Pratt and Taylor Sportsnet show for sure and perhaps Don all together. Who could replace him though?

Bill Good works for Corus and CTV. I'm sure Taylor can make it work.

Your comparison doesn't quite work.  Corus and CTV don't compete directly, Good is not in a conflict.  If Taylor continued both shows he would be on both competing networks.  Maybe both sides will have no issue, but I am guessing one of them will, especially if a rebrand to a national radio network ("TSN Radio") were to come about.  This could be fixed by having him move to TSN.

I don't think Taylor would be moving to TSN anytime soon...he's fiercely loyal (see: Sports Page) and knows Sportsnet is the place to be if he wants to stay on the West Coast and be a significant figure in the organization.

He only has to look across the table to Pratt to see what a disaster TSN is as far as it goes with its attempts with Western based programming.  They don't call it the Toronto Sports Network for nothing.
