It’s always amazed me that you can’t buy Beatles music online. I mean, this is the one band that changed the face of popular music forever – but then, that’s what copyright wrangling with do for you. We may be getting closer, though: for the first time, sixteen of John Lennon’s solo albums, which had already been for sale on other services, are available for download on Apple’s market-leading iTunes Music Store – they’ll be part of the EMI catalog which is available without digital rights management. You’ll also find a couple of albums which previously hadn’t been available for legal download: Legend and Acoustic. John now joins Ringo and Sir Paul in the 21st century. George’s work still hasn’t come to the party, but his widow Olivia says we’re getting close to the point where we’ll be able to download Abbey Road, Sgt.
