Heard a very cryptic sign-off from Gord Whitehead this morning, saying he was "taking some time off" and that he would "be back sometime in the future - that's all I'm gonna say."

Surely they wouldn't be letting Whitey go?

Boyd out as Cool PD wouldn't be a surprise. His Joe morning gig is probably enough of a challenge.

Well Gord is involved with the Caritis Home Lotto so maybe they forced him off the air until it is complete.  

Cool 880 has been dropping in the ratings.  Oldies music (60s and 70s) may be a cost-effective format, but it seems few people care about the station.  I wouldn't be sad to see a format change.

In a memo to staff Gord said he would be away for a while, perhaps longer, and if there were reasons he kept them to himself.

But I would think that the reasons probably aren't confidential if our friend CheezyPoofs was able to tip us all off about Whitey's departure.
