Sir Elton John doesn't think much of Tah Intarwebs. In fact, if he were in charge, he'd probably pull the power plug out of the wall right now. Elton says that the Net is killing music, because instead of getting out there, playing live, meeting people and doing all the schmoozing that they should be doing, too many aspiring musician-types now huddle in their basements, grinding out mndless cookie-cutter pap on their computers with little or no inspiration. Elton opines that this does not bode well for long-term artistic vision, and that the best thing we could do is turn off the Net for five years. While there may be a grain of truth in what he says, it's pretty easy to imagine that if we all woke up tomorrow and found that the Net had taken a nap, there would be enough worldwide pandemonium within the first five minutes to permanently offset any positive effects.
