Australian researchers recently checked out some laser printers from several manufacturers, and found that some of them may emit enough particulates -- specifically carbon black -- to pose a health risk, especially for people who have respiratory problems. They determined that printing off a bunch of pages on the printers with the heaviest emissions might be equivalent to taking a drag on a cigarette. Hewlett Packard responds that more studies need to be done, and that they build their printers to conform to strict safety standards. Read more at The Sydney Morning Herald. |
