anyone update on FREE and Q99 in grande prairie?  Q99 at least has a website though all the pics on the site are of what looks like a morning show that get a big kick out of snapping eachother instead of listeners.  vista's FREE has a domain but still no site.  their jocks even have email?  last i heard, they were still in the trailer. this new vista station living up to the the ahem...company standard?  no streaming for either station.

after the big battle with the crtc to win...these launches seem disapointing to anyone else?

hmm... not getting at what you expected.

The Q launch seemed fine to me.  Dave Sawchuk is someone I know well and he did a swell job launching the station on a shoe-string budget in a competitive middle market.  They have a website, full on-air line-up, solid format.  I saw that he put his jocks out there all wearing mascot costume to drum up some support!

Vista is Vista...once again, what did you expect?

I think both stations are doing well. They've both been welcomed into the community and are doing their part to become part of Grande Prairie.

They both sound pretty good and have solid playlists.

No, neither of them stream, but I think it has more to do with ongoing royalty issues (and maybe even double pay for internet streams) that's holding these two back.

I don't mean to nit-pick, but doesn't it usually takes years - not months - for a new media outlet (radio and/or otherwise) to become established and grow some numbers (money and ears)? And in Grande Prairie, where quite literally every other vehicle has a satellite radio, it may prove even more difficult to crack.

I'm just saying I'm not sure if a negative criticism based on a 4 month snapshot from someone not in the community/market is warranted.

But then again, what do I know... I only push buttons.
