OK, what's with this.  A bunch of radical protesters invade an office and, wait for it, take the media with them?

Why in blazes do we give these guys the time of day?

Come on in our office.  We're a public body and we'll give you some public body.

Nah, they faxed media with their plans and cops had a scrum confirming what happened.  I agree it's a fine line to walk between giving these jerk-offs more publicity and the reporting of a legitimate news event.

Last night on their late news, Global made a point of saying they had no advance knowledge of the incident.

I remember covering a planned government office take over when I was at VU13. They gave us the heads up before hand.  In fact we got there at the same time as them and they waited for us to position ourselves before barging in.  Then all hell broke loose.  Police and other media showed but we were the only ones there when they went in.  I remember feeling sorry for the office staff being taped whilst these people invaded their offices.

If you watched closely, you could hear the receptionist's voice trembling as she called security. We know now it was only minor vandalism, but if you were there, defenseless, surrounded by chaos it must have been terrifying--thinking to yourself, what are they doing? How far will they go?

unfortunately, things on the downtown eastside must really be bad for anyone to do something so stupid and get arrested.

i think there is some media bias making this group look like a bunch of terrorists  when the media should really focus on whether the olympics is really taking away low income housing

why is it no one worry's about the homeless?

"why is it no one worry's about the homeless?" You are kidding, right? The homeless industry is alive and well, and flourishing. Just as DERA, APC, Pivot, and a denizen of others would have it. If homelessness were magically eliminated tomorrow, these Poverty Pimps would be unemployed. There has been millions and millions of dollars earned by you and me, that has gone into "addressing homelessness", and the self proclaimed Authorities on the Subject draw their stipends, and the numbers of homelessness grow and grow and...............................

Having just heard David Cunningham on Pratt and Taylor at 3:40pm. I was really ticked off at the stunt the authorities pulled at first innarresting him.now I'm now totally 100% behind the police nailing this idiot and their ilk. Protest, yes! Thats what my father and uncle fought for in WW2.But to go on rampages like this is getting more people pissed off. When Cunningham told P@T that he worked 2 days per week for DERA (funded by you and I the taxpayer), Taylor asked him why not work thee other days? Taylor pointed out all the signs in Port Moody looking for Framers and Construction help. Cunningham laughed it off with a " No way in hell I'm going work in Port Moody".  mocked P@T and then hung up. The guy is a complete self serving ass**** who is on the tax payer funded dole, and needs to be part of the poverty industry, because without it he would have no job at all! The interview is being replayed at 6:20pm today.

Glad someone said it.

The Poverty Action Committee character should spend more time doing something positive for the future of his little guy and less time being a media star... that's my job

Did you read the article in the Province about these guys the other day (Monday I think)?  I lost a lot of sympathy for their cause after reading that... back to PR school for these kids if they want my support which is too bad, because they are asking some important questions... they need to focus on working to make sure all people have choices and support and less time bing clowns interested in theatrics.

Why was someone from DERA on Pratt and Taylors show? Has nothing to do with sports..

Just my two cents.

These protestors really aren't any better then terrorists.  They are lazy people, who think that they are too good to work an honest day's work.  I ask you, why should the rest of us who work hard, pay taxes etc even have to consider to give up the olympics so that these people can continue to ruin the image of our great city?

Yeah, I don't like these terror tactics and yeah, they may be lazy and unemployed, but it's the same demographic that forced the forest companies to admit they engaged in careless logging practices in the 80s.

I just heard the replay of the David Cunningham call-in. The dude works 2 days a week and has a government subsidized housing?

What a hypocrite! Glad P&T put that joker in order.

I also just caught the replay....wonder why he doesn't give up his social housing for those that can't work? He had no answers and just bailed when they pushed him. I did get a chuckle out of his comment that it is in the charter of rights that everyone is entitled to a job and housing.

Holden West, I am very sorry to report that the logging practices being carried out today are far worse than in the 80's, perhaps we can alert these APC brats and they can spend the summer in the hills putting a stop to it?
