I downloaded the trial and it told me it was supposed to be on for 3 months. I got it on April 15 but it expired on the 30th. I sent them an e-mail and there response was that between the 15th and 30th that was 90 days. Clearly it was only 15 but has this problem happened with anyone else? I tried reloading and it told me that I had it already. so now I can't load it and when I tried loading a store bought version it would not allow the key to work. so now I have no working Office and it was paid for. Anyone know what I can do about it?

Did you get the trial version directly from Microsoft?  As far as I can tell, all of the official Office 2007 trial versions have a 60 day limit, not 90, so I'm not sure what's up with that.

Is the boxed version you purchased the same version as the trial version?

Did you load the boxed version on top of the trial version?  If so, you may have trial version information hanging around in your registry, and since you can't use a purchased product key to activate an expired trial, that may be part of the problem.

I would try uninstalling everything and then reinstalling the boxed product.

You might also want to check this page for a few other troubleshooting tips.

I was using the Beta 2 Technical Refresh version, and I was concerned that I might run into the same situation ... but before the beta expired, I converted it to a full retail version with no trouble at all using my retail product key, so it can be done.  =)

hey sorry you were right it was a 60 day trial but I am still having issues. I took off everything then I loaded the new one on and it told me that I had the trial and everything is expired. Any more ideas about what I can do without formatting the hard drive

Unfortunately, I think you might be coming close to only having that option.  The upside of that, though, is that your PC will run spanky-fresh lickity-split, just like it used to.

Or, you could go out and spend some money on a new Mac.  I considered that once, but then I realized that

-I wouldn't be able to run Selector
-I wouldn't be able to run our digital audio playback system
-I'd have to reinvest a lot of money getting Mac versions of all of the software I've accumulated over the years -- the ones that are available, that is
-I'd have to invest a lot of time re-learning a lot of those software systems
-I'd have a problem exchanging a lot of stuff with the 90% or so of the rest of the world which runs Windows
-My game selection would be cut down pretty severely*
-I might be lumped in with that smug, condescending bint in the Mac ads who actually makes me root for the Windows guy
-I wouldn't be able to do nearly as much hardware tweaking on my systems as I can now

So I didn't.  =)

*Not that I have time for games these days
