From all accounts, Zimmerman was a NIGHTMARE to work with.  He's lucky he's been there as long as he has, the act has worn thin, and justice has been done.

How true, Digicart. However, he wasn't a nightmare to work with...he was worse. You CAN wake up from a nightmare and not have it again the VERY next morning.

They should re-tool this station and Big Earl. Both stations are sorry excuses for being on the air

Only one guy can fix K-Rock...the guy who was the Ryan Smyth for them for so many years. Will they ask him to come back, though?

Once again I am left wondering who signs Zippy's paycheques. I wonder if it's THE Ryan Smyth and THE Mark Messier ofthat station.
Geez louise, you step out of line and you get burned, the K-Rock Smytty, by all reports, did that. End of story.

When did they bounce your can outta the Big Mall? Geez!

You'd have to ask him. Graham Hicks seems to think he would. Nobody knows that station or Edm listeners like him

I've had a feeling based on inside information for quite a while now. A very good friend (best man at my wedding in 96) works in Alberta and has mentioned to me several times to stay here in BC because of the slanderous crap that goes on inside one of the "common job posters". I won't quote the name of the company cuz, quite frankly, you ass clowns have done it already on this thread. Someone's got some friends on the admin of this board, clearly. I see a statement posted above about 'slanderous' remarks being removed, yet, just above, it's still in fine print. Strategic? Me thinks so. I told him he was being paranoid if he thought a tight corporate unit would allow that kind of crap inside their building. Outside? - who cares. But inside? Holy crap was I wrong. If this is the kind of trash that goes on inside the buildings of THAT company, I'd be more than willing to bet there's a certain management nucleas in every one of their properties who can say whatever they want, disclose whatever they want,  and break the rules of "closed door meetings" in order to save their ass clown faces. I didn't want to believe it, cuz there are some good people in those buildings. It was easy to chalk his concerns up to paranoia, but buddy's got some thinkin' to do. Getting fired from THAT company would be a blessing from the sounds of it. Then again, stickin' it out and getting proof that someone in management was talking like the above posters - - hell, what a brilliant lawsuit for all of us to watch and learn from. Then again, perhaps a few of those posters are one in the same?

While I don't know what happens on the inside of Newcap, I can say that Steve was my favorite person on the K-ROCK morning show. When Terry left, I didn't care. I didn't think he contributed all that much. But Steve was actually funny.
When all is said and done, it's just another bad move on behalf of Newcap from the sounds of it. Jerome, in my opinion, is a waste of air space, their producer guy - more so, and Bill - well, Bill is probably next to go. Out with the old, in with the useless.
All hail the new K-ROCK morning show...destined to be worse than even the JOE FM morning show.

But I will say this. Sounds like what Edmonton Newcap really needs is a good old fashion fire. Burn the place right to the ground. Judging by their last few ratings, they'd probably make more money from the insurance.

Yup...yer right, Steve is funny...but why couldn't he do the show on his own after the departure of Evans on TWO different ocassions? The Bear and K-Rock. Evans knew how to work him. He knew how to get him to use his talents to benefit the show. Without Evans, zimmerman is a swing announcer. With him, he shines. Word is...with Zimmermens resentment toward Evans for not being the lead guy with all the combined with Evans' hate for Zimmermen led to a working relationship that could not be fixed. Evans was the ONLY guy in the world that would put up with the BS and realized the collective goal. But maybe that isn't contributing.Evans wasn't the funniest guy in the world but he knew how to manipulate the people around him to get a collective good for the show and the station. Name another guy who can do that.

Every good broadcaster knows that he wins by using what is around him effectively. That secret has been out for a long time. Not everyone could do it. Evans could, Zimmerman could not.
But would Terry's ego allow him to concede the fact that without the players around him, and the bought  elements (prep sites, parody services, promo billboards) HE wasn't that strong?

Binzer...you contradict yourself in your comments. Evans wasn't that strong, but he was a good broadcaster that won?? The same prep services remained after his departure. He told me that he had lost the jam for the biz. Corporate bs and zero support from a morning cohost had drained his enthusiasm for radio. As PD he got some of it back but was fighting a losing battle against internal scardy cats and backstabbers who wanted his position. He truly lost his passion for radio because he couldn't find anyone to share it to the same extent.   As for ego...if you don't have one in radio you get nowhere.
