And I thought I was the only one who noticed his weird emphasis on the last syllable of some words. Petty, I know, but weird.

Gotta say I think it's a little odd now that I really listen to his pronunciation....he says ruther-FERD...and mike blan.SHARD, with the emphasis on the last syllable and numerous other odd sounding choices. Just wondering why Corus hasn't correctected his many mistakes...also wonder where the other guy went who seemed to be here for years...Would be interested in Pave's opinion

I can hear Dave threatening to call in an air-strike from Montana for the mispronunciations.

But, here's the thing: There really are more important dike-holes that need fingers at the station and the imaging-guy thing might not rank all that high.

While that is a niggly issue that can be addressed with an overnight MP3, I'm more inclined to listen carefully to the copy the image-guys are required to warble - innocuous, self-congratulatory claims that can never be realised... according to an audience.

Even an outfit like 'QR - targeted to mobile, articulate adults (the phone-in callers being the exceptions), can get caught up in their own hype.

So caught up, in fact - they don't even recognise it as patronising, superfluous and shallow.... hype.

Maybe an American imaging guy thinks a French Canadian sound is what's wanted for a Canadian client station.

Any examples of stations that "get it" in regards to providing imaging that reaches out to the community and establishes a sense of self for the station, but doesn't bow down to the tired "We're Number One" conventions?  Or has that ship already sailed?

That ship, that guy, was torpedoed out of the water years ago!

I can still remember the creaking and snapping of her keel as the pressure collapsed her bulkheads on the way down.

Sounds like they've got some new writers too.

I'm glad to read the comments here.  I thought I was the only one who noticed "Ruther-FERD."
