Bruins Name Sheldon as 'Voice of the Bruins' Created: May 9, 2007
DAVE SHELDON NAMED DIRECTOR OF BROADCASTING AND MEDIA RELATIONS Chilliwack BC – May 7, 2007: The Chilliwack Bruins have today named Dave Sheldon as the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations. Sheldon Joined the Bruins for their inaugural Season after spending three seasons with the Everett Silvertips. President of the Bruins Darryl Porter, “I am thrilled that Dave has joined the Bruins team in a much larger role this year. He combines a passion for the WHL product with an excellent knowledge base. He will give our broadcast a professional look as we develop that side of our business while he will provide our media partners first level service moving forward.”
Dave Sheldon has called color for over 300 WHL games in the past four seasons. Sheldon also called play-by-play for numerous games for the Bruins this past season and called Play-by-Play for the ADT Canada-Russia game held in Chilliwack this past November. While with Everett, Sheldon hosted a weekly radio show and was a regular on ESPN Radio in Everett, covering both the WHL and NHL. Sheldon also spent parts of two seasons covering the Vancouver Canucks for ESPN Radio.
“Dave is a valued team player and will fit in perfectly with the Bruins staff. He brings lots of energy into the office and to the Bruins radio broadcast,” states Barry Douglas, Bruins Director of Marketing. “Dave has vast experience in the WHL in dealing with all levels of media and will bring a rare passion to the play by play he will provide for the Bruins radio broadcasts.”
“I could not be more excited to be named to this position,” Sheldon remarks. “Since I was a child listening to Jim Robson, I have always dreamt of calling games. The Bruins have given me the opportunity, for which I am extremely grateful.”
Sheldon takes over the play-by-play duties from veteran broadcaster Denny Larochelle. “Denny provided our broadcasts with a veteran presence last season and for that we are thankful,” says Douglas. “Denny is and always will be a Bruin.” |
