Well, this book should put everyone at Sonic back into a happy place. We now have the proof that the last book (with the 4.8 ) was a just a 'blip' and not a reflection of actual listening habits. They bounced back and are back on course.
No big moves in any direction in this book for anyone really, well at least not with the 12+ numbers. But, no one cares about 12+ numbers alone. Well, except for radio nerds and the newspaper.
It will be interesting to see if Earl's flip to Capital (yawn!) will be able to stop the bleeding. Plus, what is K-Rock to do now? The slide didn't stop with Terry coming back, so where does NewCap look next to fix this one?
CHED reigns in radio ratings by Sandra Sperounes EdmontonJournal.com Published: 12:35 pm
EDMONTON - Surprise, surprise - 630 CHED is tops in Edmonton.
The news/talk AM station pulled in a 13.3 share of listeners during the latest round of ratings, according to the Bureau of Broadcast Measurement.
Country powerhouse, CISN 103.9 FM, is second, rebounding after a year of so-so numbers. The station attracted a 9.7 share.
The Bear 100.3 FM, recently named the best rock station in Canada, came in third with an 8.7 share. It was a slight dip from its fall showing of 10.9.
Modern rock station Sonic 102.9 FM, on the other hand, seemed to pick up The Bear's missing listeners - jumping from a 4.8 share to a 6.1.
As for Big Earl, the former country station only snagged a 2.2 share, making it the lowest-rated FM station in Edmonton. It switched to a classic hits format, Capital FM, in late March.
A share is based on the number of people who tune in and the length of time they listen.
This latest round of BBMs were compiled from listener diaries from Jan. 7 to March 2.

Capital is anything but "yawn" if you are in their demo. The big question is how big their library will be and how much money they spend on promoting the change. I haven't seen anything yet.

Hey... I'm sure they're willing to trade the 2.2 for the 2.5 come Summer Book
At some point, does a frequency not get a stigma where "bad radio just happens there?" If so... 96.3 has to be very close to the edge of that cliff.

96.9 in Calgary went through alot of the same. I think from the time that frequency came on air to 6 or 7 years later it went from original KISS FM, to Rock 97, to KISS FM the rap station, to Jack FM. Jack FM has found itself to be a pretty solid station in the ratings down there. In fact, i recall some of JACK's early imaging involved making fun of how many format flips the station went through. It can be done...but I don't envy their position.
