Former KCPQ/13 news director moves to KIRO/7
Friday, January 5, 2007

Former KCPQ/13 news director Todd Mokhtari has been named news director of KIRO/7 Eyewitness News.

Mokhtari, who served as Q13's news director between 1997 and 2002, comes back to Seattle from NBC's Los Angeles KNBC-TV, where he was managing editor.

At Q13, he was responsible for building its news department and created KCPQ's morning and evening newscasts. He left in 2002, and until 2006 served as the assistant news director at KNTV-TV in San Jose.

He replaces Helen Swenson, KIRO's news director since 2001, who announced her intention to leave the position in August, according to a station spokesman. She will remain until Feb. 2, one day after Mokhtari officially takes over.
