Disc jockey for KNDD-FM apologizes for being insensitive to Amish shooting

A disc jockey for KNDD-FM (107.7) has apologized for playing Weird Al Yankovic's "Amish Paradise" Monday following a fatal school shooting in Pennsylvania.

Jerry McKenna, vice president and Seattle market manager for Entercom Communications, which operates The End, said DJ No Name (the on-air name used by the host) had been "less respectful of the event than he should have been. We are dealing with it internally."

McKenna said the DJ referred to the event in a news update as "horrific," but "the disconnect was playing that song underneath it." Yankovic's song is a parody of Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise," which in turn borrows heavily from Stevie Wonder's "Pastime Paradise."

Good story on what and will not get you fired.  Talks about the KNDD thing about half way down, but the first half is pretty neat too.

Good article (in a "bad news" kinda-sorta way), Flamer.

Maybe that's why many posters on sites like this one maintain their anonymity so vigorously. Those with little or nothing to lose - less so.

Meanwhile, the "Amish" thing was incredibly boorish given the timing of the prank.
