According to the FCC, the long-awaited move by KMIH to move from 104.5 to 88.9 FM has been approved.  KASB also moves to give room for KMIH's change.  KASB will go to  89.9 fm.

Trust me, very few people in the Puget Sound area are aware that these two stations even exist.

I beg to differNeumann.  KMIH, also known as X104, has been making news for well over 4 years now.  KASB is making an accomodation for the KMIH move.  The biggest thing about this story is that when KMIH vacates their current spot at 104.5, KMCQ will move up from The Dalles, adding another "Seattle station" into the area.

If KMIH, which has a bigger audience cume than many AM's in town (over 32K per wk) isn't big enough, then the FCC allowing for this change; totally re-shuffling the Portland area allocation scheme; then an add to Seattle with a class C move (from a station over 150 miles away) ought to be.

In the end, the Seattle FM dial gets more crowded and more competitive, and it gets  one more format choice in the mix.

Yeah, I was kind of looking down my nose and kickin' the little guys a bit. X 104 is a decent hip hop station.

But KMCQ's postioning statement??:  "The Sound of the Gorge" ???!!
I guess if you lived there it wouldn't sound so ridiculous.
Kind of like that highway exit sign near Portland that reads:

                     BORING
                     OREGON CITY

(Boring and Oregon City being the names of two nearby communities)

I was in Eugene Oregon this spring, and that pretty much sums up the situation.
