Checking out 96.3 Capital FM this afternoon and much to my surprise I hear Chuck Chandler, formerly from Cool 880 (now defunct). Sounds like the same old Chuck, over the top at the best of times. Although the quality seems a tad tinny, maybe on-location somewhere, or from a home-studio perhaps?

I was not surprised to hear Chuck on Capital FM...(I think everyone thought he might wind up there)..I was surprised to hear him on a weekend shift.....does that mean semi-retirement for the old rock 'n roller?.......sounded like a perfect fit for the new oldies station.

Has Capital finalized their new on-air crew?    Haven't heard much about the status.

I was in Edmonton on the weekend .. Capital was being played everywhere! Store's .. Cafe's .. Gas Stations .. I think Newcap has hit a home run with this format!

I've heard it in a few places, but EZ still gets played in the majority of places... It'll do better than Earl did, no doubt. Haven't heard a single positive thing about their sister station though. I think the format over there is done.

The problem with this format has always been finding a creative way to schedule the tunes without being too repetative. I was bopping along to Do Wah Diddy the other day, but when I heard it the next day my bopping wasn't quite as intense.

Ya, I've been hearing more repeats. I've never bought into the whole 'people don't get sick of their favorite songs' thing. I just don't see them unseating Joe and EZ-Rock. I know the morning show is new but they sound really awkward. As far as Chuck goes, anyone under 45 doesn't know or care who he is. Besides, heritage doesn't guarantee success. Look at the numbers Rob Christie and Terry Evans are (or aren't) pulling in.

If they schedule properly the music will sell the format. Don't expect heritage personalities to be the saviour.

So when everyone says 'Yay finally an alternative to Cool 880!' does that mean everyone totally forgot about CKJR W1440? Which, apart from Sundays, plays basically continuous music. With very very few ads.

I don't think (non-industry, non-PSR) people even know about CKJR in Edmonton, let alone able to tune it in clearly...

I listen to W 1440 quite a bit. I am not an industry person....just interested in listening to all types of music.

This is only a test. If this were real life, you would have given better instructions.

Due to the lack of a promotions budget and its location on the am dial not many Edmontonians know that it exists.

•Chuck Chandler may be down, but not necessarily out. The Cool 880 morning man was let go with the format flip to iNews 880, but he "auditioned" for the new Capital FM with a special 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday shift. The response, says the veteran Edmonton morning man, was "incredible."     (from Hicks on Six Blog)

I just saw that myself.  So Chuck isn't there just yet... will he be there?  That'll depend on whether he can play the format, I guess.  He might be too 'big' for it now... I haven't heard much personality over at CapFM, it seems to be more format than jock.

Does Capital even have any live jocks outside of AM drive?
