Is there any truth to the rumor that Mike Shannon is going to be running the new Regina station for Standard? |

Anyone who is running Standard Regina will likely be a proxy for the GM who's in Winnipeg... I can't see Astral dumping a bunch of money in to the market on salaries for a standalone when they've got the Winnipeg/Brandon cluster relatively close by (in eastern-Canadian thinking terms). Not that it makes it right... but it's the 'fiscally-aware' thing to do, I'd imagine. |

Rumour is true.
A friend back east worked with him, said nothing but great things. Treats the staff well, lots of airchecks, treated everyone fairly. One of the good guys. |

After who they're getting in Saskatoon and McMurray, and now Shannon in Regina, looks like Harvard is doing something smart. They know how to attract talent. I wouldn't be surprised if they know how to keep their talent. |

Regina's new stick is Astral/Standard, not Harvard. But they are on a bit of a roll with McMurray/S'toon I agree. |

Over zealous. Thanks for the correction 'tog'. Standard seems to have the same corp. culture as Havard when compared to Newcap, Touch or Pattison. Mini-prediction: Harvard will buy out Hildebrand (Golden West) in the next 4. |

I have worked with 9 Program Directors and my worst experience was with Mike Shannon. It's nice to hear that he treated some people well but I was not one of them. I may have caught him on a bad year. This is a business full of opinions right?

Wish you could have had a better experience with him, Venus. Mike brought me to Camrose, and while I didn't particularly enjoy my time with Newcap, I did enjoy working with Mike. He knows his stuff and I quickly realized I didn't know near as much as I thought I did (but I sure learned in a hurry). Mike is a great teacher. His door was always open, and I found he was truly interested in helping us be better jox, and for me, a better programmer. My personal thought is that he'd be a great instructor at school, real good guy to work with the rookies. Maybe a personality clash with you, a veteran? |

I wish it could have been a better experience too. Like I said, I may have just caught him on a bad year. I don't believe that any of us act exactly the same at every job we do. We all try to be consistent but occasionally, our personal lives get in the way. Mike showed signs of kindness while I worked with him but overall, it was a miserable experience. I've spoken with friends who worked with him in western Canada who had the same experience as I did in the east. I've also heard several people say good things about him which leads me to believe that he is inconsistent. I think if I came out and told you what he did/said, you would be disappointed in him. That's providing you believed me. Glad your experience was better than mine Crossthread. |
