Anyone hear about most of the staff at Winnipeg's FREQ 107 being let go?

heard about it and personally I think it is about time. they have great music but personalities that would better suit either a country station or a station like the beat

What the peg rants are saying.

A rant by: BigB

Let's talk about how much FREQ 107 is pissing me off. For starters, They really don't have a vision for their radio station. They don't know where they are going or what they are doing. They started out as a christian radio station, but when they didn't get the ratings they hoped for they sold out. Way to follow the buck. They had one thing going for them, they were the only christian rock music station in winnipeg. Now they are like every other station. You can hear everything from metallica to celine dion. What is the point of that? I listened to their old format more then this one. Why would i want to listen to a station where every 4th song is a good one. Might as well just put on the cd player where i trust the dj's judgement.

But that isn't the momentum to my complaint. It's these damn billboards all over the city. "We got Dick...Rivers". Isn't Dick Rivers the coke head that got canned from Power 97? "Get your nightly dick?"  And then FREQ is bragging "we got dick!" I think Dick Rivers is the same guy i hired for the day to scrub out my septic tank. I wonder why he insisted on paying cash.

And then back to FREQ's lack of focus. I was leaving Pearl Jam and hey handed me a FREQ cd, "Rock the nation" or something like that. I popped it in for the drive home and my lady friend chucked it out the window. I recognized one song of the whole disc. I don't know if that is their form of "outreach" but they would probably do better handing out beer and hotdogs. My soul is saved, but i'd still like the freebies that are worthwhile.

The law has spoken.
knew they were done for when they came out with the billboard "What the F***?" Which later became, "What the Freq?" At that point I realized that they were the little kid everyone grew up with that would do stupid things to get everyone else to like them. The unfortunate kid that would pretend to be someone he/she was not and didn't realize that everyone was laughing at them and not with them.

I doubt they were all let go because of their talents. My guess is a) FREQ couldn't make payroll or b) they're reconsidering direction based on the heat that's about to come down from the CRTC re: their non-compliance. The latter may include a quick sale of the station. What do you think?

listening to it now and it sounds alright, just too bad the website shows an entire days playlist right down to the second for a day or two ahead of itself. I went there and looked at all the songs and id's and stuff they are playing tomorrow.
Kind of lame personally

Where is the info posted confirming these firings?
I have heard Hustler, Drew, and Zelmer on the station this weekend. Zelmer was discussing the boat cruise next week with Gordo and Billy Jaye. The only other on air members left are April and Duncan, but they are on during the week.
This is not an indication most of the station was let go.

Last I knew it was a company called Kesitah.
All local, from what I understand.
