Peter Redman/National PostFormer Canadian soccer superstar
Brian Budd poses for a photo in Toronto, Feb. 4, 2003.

I am sad to say that Brian Budd soccer commentator on the Score passed away today at age 56

He was one of Canada's best soccer players in the old NASL

He won ABC's Superstars competition so many times in the 70's they kicked him off the show.

Brian went on to a great career with both Molson & Labatt helping me at my annual chairity golf

tourney in Toronto.

I was proud to call him a friend !!!!!!!

Rest in Peace BUDGIE !!!!

you will be missed

Brian was a great guy, I had the chance to do some work with him in the 70's. I remember him winning all those Superstars competitions, beating all those big name US football and baseball types. So much so after 3 years they changed the rules so he wasn't eligible.

RIP Brian.
