I'm going to reserve judgement until all the details are available, but I'm definitely disappointed right now.  What a way for these guys to promote their new kids album "Snack Time".

Wow !  Everyone except the CBC might have overlooked this incident if it had been "only weed."   But when you bring the white powder into the mix, its going to take a lot of tearful apologies and PSA's to make Jane and Joe Public forgive and forget.

Give him a chance.  Stop being so typically Canadian, waiting for the fall.

It's not like it's Chad.

From the BNL site:

"A note to the fans...
Many of you have probably read or heard press accounts about Steven Page's recent arrest in New York State.
Steven has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and the validity of the charges against Steven will be strongly contested.
While this is happening, it's business as usual for Barenaked Ladies. We will continue to perform and look forward to heading into the studio later this year to record a new album.
We want to thank our loyal fans for their continued support during this difficult time.
-BNL"

Good to see someone standing up.  All too often in a case like this, someone would just take the blame to get it over with, plead guilty and go away.

...and yet, today, on the wire, NYC officials are saying that Page admitted to taking the coke, and had 1/3 of an ounce literally on himself when the cops got him.  Cripes...call me naive, but I really hoped that these guys were who they SAID they were.  This is just really sad and unfortunate...

Guilty or not, say nothing ask for a lawyer.

Wire says. "Police stumbled upon a car parked across a driveway with its driver-side door opened"

"After tracking the license plate of the vehicle, police entered an apartment where they found Page and 25-year-old Stephanie Ford in the kitchen"

"In a statement to police filed with the court, Ford said the two had just finished snorting what she believed to be cocaine using a rolled-up Canadian bill"

"She said Page had stored several capsules containing a white powdery substance in a bottle labelled Calcium"

You don't have to let the police enter your premisses unless invited. Now, car door situation was totally stupid.
