In your ratings results for Edmonton, you don't show those for CFCW - AM, of course.

CHED 13.2 (CHED 630AM)     11.7
An increase was expected I think, based in part to the Oilers play-off run, etc.

CISNFM 9.2                          10.5
Finally lost a bit to Big Earl.  Only one point, nothing to worry about overall.

CFBRFM 9.0                           8.7
An increasel, a very small one, but an increase none the less and two increases, two books in a row.  3rd overall, I'd be pleased.

CFMGFM 8.0                          7.0
Welcome back to the listeners that discovered how below average Magic really is.

CKNGFM 7.2                           7.0
A tiny increase and admitedly, this surprises me.  I expected a drop.  I will have to pay more attention to any recent changes that may or may not have taken place at Joe.

CFCW 7.0                              8.2
A slip down from numbers I don't think they actually have or deserve inside the city.  Rurally - they rule and bring in the cha-ching!

CHDIFM 6.3                            6.1
Surprised this didn't grow more.  It really should have and I think they do have more listeners than this number indicates.  There is a buzz and a lot of loyal followers of this station.

CIRKFM 6.2                            6.2
They didn't regain any of the recent loses at all.  Maybe the bleeding finally stopped!?  Uh-oh!  Will that bleeding start again with Mr. Evans departure?

CBX 5.3                                 6.4
No comment.  I honestly can't believe the CBC has listeners anywhere at anytime.  Wait!  That wasn't fair.  Oh well, who cares.  With what they get paid (which is far better than anyone in private radio, ha ha) they can develop a sense of humour.

CHBNFM 4.6                           5.9
Whoops!  This isn't good.  And it shouldn't be happening with a CHR station in a market with no other CHR competition!  What's wrong with this station?

CKRAFM 3.7 (Big Earl)             2.7
Up a point, so some growth is better than none, right?  Yes and no.  They only stole 1 point from CISN (who lost only 1.3 in total).  There is much more needed than that to make this station profitable again.  They still haven't recovered their loses since switching from 96X.

CHQT 3.3                               3.2
Real bad AM Oldies station - it could be (and should be) much worse.

CHMCFM 3.4                           2.9
Did they steal some of CBC's numbers?  'Cause, they didn't get any from EZ Rock this time around.

CBXFM 2.5                              2.9
No comment.

CFRN   (the Team)                  1.8
Is that a steady 1.8?  I'm not sure.  As an AM all sports station goes, this could be doing better.  If they ever get the rights to either the Oilers or Eskimoes, look out!  Still, even with out, this should grow.

CFCWFM 0.1 (Cam FM)            0.1
The Camrose FM.  No ones takes it serious in Edmonton.  Yet.

Congrats to those that deserve it and to those that don't - you got lucky!

Good luck to all this summer and look out Fall!

The most exciting part about this book being out is when we will all get to see how disgrunteld jackguy100 is going to be when he see's how well The Bear faired again. What's your excuse going to be now because obviously the formula they have is working.

Congratulations Chris Sheetz at CISN!  Jackie Rae - holy crappola - what format is CKRA going to flip to NOW?  I think the boiz were hoping for a whole of a hell more than one point?!?  And what's going to happen when all of CFCW's listeneners start DYING OFF?

K-ROCK's going to have some problems with Evan's "walkin' the plank".

Newcap...I predict much voice-tracking.

From http://lastlinkontheleft.com/r020.html#06earlysummer:

Late Spring/Early Summer 2006

The Bureau of Broadcast Measurement has added a fourth book to the year (in past surveys were done winter/spring, summer and fall). The "Late Spring/Early Summer" book measured Edmonton radio audiences from April 17th to June 11th, 2006.

Overall the survey paints a status quo scenario with the usual suspects occupying the top three spots.

CHED is up a point and a half no doubt reflecting the success of the Edmonton Oilers in the spring's playoffs. Slipping just over a point is sister station CISN, with some of its audience likely sampling Big Earl's wares at CKRA.

CFBR - The Bear, solid in third place, continues its climb upwards from a disastrous Fall 2005 book (5.5 - their worst ever).

CFMG - EZ Rock regains fourth place coming off their worst book (although some stations would kill to have 7.0 as a poor showing) and is up a full point. Apparently CHMC - Magic 99 didn't work a spell on the EZ Rock crowd.

CKNG - Joe FM is the same old Joe, completing a hat trick of fifth place rankings.

CFCW's audience is showing signs of serious erosion, shrinking from 9.9 to 8.2 to 7.0 over three books. New morning stable-mate Danny Hooper came on board just as the survey period was closing, so the poor showing reflects the former crew of Jackie Rae and Graham Neil. Time will tell if Hooper can rope back the fans.

CHDI - Sonic FM stays comfortable in seventh, having only edged up a half point since its first book in Summer 2005.

CIRK - K-Rock repeats with a 6.2, making it two surveys in a row that mark the ratings low point for the station. What remains to be seen is how Jungle Jim Jerome fills the shoes of recently departed Terry Evans. Jerome is expected to arrive at the start of the Fall ratings period.

CBC - Radio One has settled back in the low 5's after two bad books in Summer and Fall 2005 -- remember the lockout?

CHBN - The Bounce seems to have lost the momentum it showed in the previous book. Launched as an urban dance station, The Bounce pounced on the pop void left by CKRA 96X when it switched to country as Big Earl. Either the Bounce faithful danced away or were perplexed by having to commit to a BBM diary.

CKRA - Big Earl gained a full point, but the station has still not regained even the poorest ground the frequency had when it was last known as 96X. Personnel tweaking in mid-June will hopefully show positive results come October when the next BBM report is due.

CHMC - Magic 99 gains half a point from its Spring book debut. Perhaps if they would settle on a definable music format ...

CHQT seems forever mired in the low 3's, the faithful have stayed with CKUA and CBC Radio 2, and CFRN - The Team has equalled its best showings -- although a 1.8 is not exactly something to post on a scoreboard.

Lastly, CFCW's flipside CAM FM can't seem to break from its stranglehold on a 0.1 share.

The results of the next Edmonton ratings period (July 3rd to 16th and July 31st to August 27th) will be released October 2nd, 2006.

The all-important Fall book (by which advertising rates are set) will be sampled September 4th to October 29th, with a release date of December 4th, 2006. Stay tuned.
