I see Corus in Montreal is now revamping AM940 and launching as a "Greatest Hits" station on Canada Day.
Sounds like Ross McIntyre  of 100.3 the Q! fm Victoria doing the liners.

now with CFUN becoming the Buzz, are the call letters still available? Corus could grab those precious call letters and relaunch AM 730 as the New CFUN! eh!
check out the new station with a live stream running now.

Needs to be in HD Radio though.  Does 730 have that.

There is no HD Radio in Canada yet. HD on AM is pretty brutal anyway, apparently.

I listened on the first day of the format (June 14), and was decidedly unimpressed with the commercial load. There'd be two songs, a five-minute block of commercials, then two more songs, and so on. I gather this had to do with honouring advertiser contracts, but still, its a major tune-out IMHO for any music station stunting with a  new format. Hopefully they at least hire a couple solid pros for AM and PM drive. Perhaps we'll see Chuck Chandler returning to his former stomping ground?

Marc Denis mornings, Russ McLeod mid-days are the big names.

It sound ok but I can't imagine that a music format like that will make it on AM these days.

I'm really surprised by this. I was sure it would be just a cheap keep-the-ligths on stopgap, but it looks like they're actaully trying to make something of it.

I'm pretty sure russ McLoud is a VT. Not sure if he's had any other gigs since leaving CHUM in 2001. You'd think they were a "classic hits" FMer with all the 80s they're throwing in the mix.
