This will be Tamara's second run with Patison Vancouver. Many will remember her as morning co-host on JRFM, first with Jim Fraser, then Clay St. Thomas from 1994 until I believe '98 or '99. Wonder if there are plans in the works to reunite Clay and Tamara on air?
Good choice. She's a class act with lots of experience who has worked her way up from receptionist to all-nights, to day-parts, mornings, and more. Good on you girl!
Recently saw her on CBC reporting and weather on CTV. I thought she was happy in Squamish running her Cafe and wanted to stay home etc. Her hair looks 100 percent better i must say. Lots of freelance work and doing Reach For The Top.
About Tamara Tamara Stanners has spent the past two decades immersed in a successful career in radio and television. Her scope of broadcasting expertise is rich, with experience in serious journalism, documentaries, video countdowns and humour packed morning shows. Needless to say, Stanners is extremely comfortable with every format of broadcasting. Particularly recognised for her exceptional ad-libbing, she is also reputed to be a highly skilled interviewer.
Prior to Healthy Home, Stanners worked as the co-anchor of the highly entertaining and popular morning show at 93.7 JRFM Radio for five years. She was responsible for writing, producing and performing this action packed daily show, which dramatically increased the rating of the station.
From 1990 to 1994, Stanners was co-anchor for U.News at Six at Canwest Global Television. As Co-Host of the evening news, she was part of the team that produced and presented the hour-long news show.
Stanners has appeared in many made for TV movies and series. Her most recent movie role was that of a lawyer in Arnold Schwarzenegger's Sixth Day. She has hosted several specials for Country Music Television, including one three-hour live broadcast, which featured Garth Brooks, up close and interactive.
Stanner's interests include motherhood, renovating and remodelling heritage homes and writing.
Despite all these credentials, I have trouble seeing Tamara as the "big boss program director" as was alluded to in an earlier post. It seems like a stretch to be given a PD gig in a major market with no previous programming experience.

She's probably going to one half of some new morning duo or maybe the "news" person in whatever ensemble cast is put together for that shift.
Hold on, now. Let's not forget this is a Pattison station. Big time owner . . . small time operator. Look around the country and you'll see a number of small market stations with morning DJs who also happen to serve as the PD. In some instances the ND is the PD. Unfortunately for this busy lady her lack of programming experience may also be reflective in her upcoming salary.
So we're speculating on her salary, her lack of programming experience and other things without even knowing what job she officially has? Wow.
First off, whether or not she was an actual PD is not a huge detail. Perhaps the Pattison people knew what she was capable of doing with her behind the scenes work from her last stint there to be comfortable with her taking the lead in a programming role. If she has some solid background, knows the format and can lead people, then maybe her "lack of programming experience" will be a refreshing change for this radio station.
I read that she has been hired on as the APD. I would guess those duties are in addition to whatever on-air capacity she'll be fulfilling at the station.
I can confidently speculate she will NOT be part of the morning show once it's launched. Her character and office politesse will make her a better leader than many others that boast a PD desk and chair. Any shortcomings on programming fundamentals will be smoothed by upper management. Her local image will immediately enhance the station's stage presence when community events get plastered with banners. She already has local star power without having to grind out 147 hours of voicetracking each week to keep it up. They can grab some kids to do that. Perhaps a few dinners with the Chamber of Commerce or a barbecue with the Rotarians should suffice. Expect her to MC the first dozen or so concerts but do NOT expect her to be on a mic each morning. Let her sleep in and monitor her team on the way in to the office, which could be carpooling from the bedroom to the kitchen some days, in keeping with the station's green plan.
Umm, I hate to say it...it's not Tamara's experience I'm worried about, it's the people above her that are cause for concern. Thankfully, she will have Jaye Albright the consultant to lean on a little.
