Veteran Vancouver broadcaster Stan Buchanan died June 3rd in Surrey at age 77.
He worked for CFUN, CKLG, CJOR and CKWX in the 50s and 60s, but was most noted for drawing the Top Dog mascot as Promotions Director at CKNW. (see display ad below.)
His work in radio was mostly behind the scenes, although he was on air at CJOR during their country format time in the early 1960s.
He went on to serve as Program Director for AM and FM stations in the Salinas/Monterey area in California.
He then returned to Vancouver in the 1970s and worked in promotions for a record company before taking early retirement.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday June 6th at 12:30 pm at Vancouver Memorial Chapel.

See the Vancouver Sun/Province obit HERE.
