The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group has developed a package of Canadian Content Initiatives in the amount of 19 million dollars to support this application. This includes 12 million in direct cash payment to support various initiatives and an in-direct contributions of 7 million in on-air support as well as promotional components from other Pattision companies.

1 - benefit emerging artists including Aboriginal emerging artists
1 - to create substantial Canadian Content
3 - be a long term benefit to the system as a whole

...::: Environmental :::...

As a radio station, The Peak will join our listeners in making environmental concerns a key fabric in the structure of the radio station both internally and on the air.

1 - All station logo'd vehicles will be hybrids
2 - Staff will be encouraged to walk, cycle or use transit to work
3 - Kitchen and washrooms will be eco-friendly with low water usage, recycled paper products, low heat lighting and a recycling program.

It's the intention of The Peak to be the broadcast leader in advancing environmental causes. Our public service airtime will be used to make our listeners aware of recycling drives, environmental fundraisers and other green activities - all with exposure and info on The Peaks "Going Green" section of the website.

I guess Sam Feldman's company got the FM at 104.1.   A Triple A of some kind.  Can anyone shed some light?

Already this sounds very much Jim Pattison
"Staff will be encouraged to walk, cycle or use transit to work"
On his proposed wages, who could afford to drive.

Does that mean the station doesn't have a parking lot?

2 AAA's licensed is a total joke considering the variety of services being proposed.

As understand it, CKBD (AM 600) is being flipped to 100.5 as The Peak.

The Commission gave Pattison the 100.5 spot because any adjacent channel interference problems with 100.3 the Q in Victoria (also a Pattison station) will be kept "in house."

D'ya suppose the end of AM600 will also end Dave McCormick's career?  Or will he be handed a spot at JR Country?

"as well as the application by Matthew Gordon McBride, on behalf of a corporation to"

wooooooo.......    is that Matt McBride ex of 97 KISS FM back in the 90s?  He did the Saturday Night Dance Party back then!   Same Matthew?  Graduate of BCIT?

He later went to Z 95 did he not?

Fascinating.  Absolutely fascinating.  And I thought a Retractable Roof on BC Place was a big deal...

Hahahahahaha.... The Peak!!! OK, this is the EXACT LOGO that Corus had for 107.3 The Peak in Calgary before they flipped to Q107 a few years back.

This will make a nice assortment in their basket - much like their brand "The River" in Prince George. Coincidence that their is a "River" in both Kamloops and Lethbridge owned by other companies who kicked their butts for years?

Yup, good to see the CRTC is granting applications to those who bring original ideas to radio, LOL!!!

Conclusions on the commercial applications

Based on all of the foregoing, the Commission approves the applications by the two parties listed below for broadcasting licences to operate new English-language commercial FM radio programming undertakings in Vancouver.
Jim Pattison Broadcast Group Ltd. (the general partner) and Jim Pattison Industries Ltd. (the limited partner), carrying on business as Jim Pattison Broadcast Group Limited Partnership
Application 2007-1451-0, received 9 October 2007

  6851916 Canada Inc.
Application 2007-1428-9, received 9 October 2007

The Commission also approves the following application for a broadcasting licence to operate a new English-language commercial FM radio programming undertaking in Port Moody.
Matthew Gordon McBride, on behalf of a corporation to be incorporated
Application 2007-0988-4, received 9 July 2007

After reading the rest of what the CRTC had to say...it seems like all three stations are going with the Triple A format.  Won't that be a bit hard on everybody?  I wish them all the best.  But really?....all triple A's?  What was the CRTC thinking?

I know Matthew and I know of Pattison...anyone have details on the third?  Where are they from, who are they etc...I have a lovely cheese and cracker platter I would like to send them...in case this 95Crave thing doesn't work out for me
