It's either Vista (yikes) or Sun Country Cable. If I remember right, it was a couple of old boys who had a station there, sold it and got licenced for another one. I think one used to be mayor.
Vista's no good, Scorpio? Hmm...interesting. Don't know much about them, 'cept that they're pretty much just a BC company right?
I'd be careful on what you read on PSR... I personally know two people that work for Vista and LOVE it. After tlaking to them, I changed my position on the company that I had based only on what I had read on this board.

Having two people that like it is WAY more creditable then listening to the dozens that seemed to have disliked their Vista experience. Nice job Flamethrower!!! Thank you.
Poppa...the only way you are really going to find out is working for them yourself...but that would be true with any company.
Based on all of the foregoing, the Commission approves the following application for a broadcasting licence to operate a new radio station in Kelowna: Sun Country Cablevision Ltd. Application 2007-0846-4, received 4 June 2007
The terms and conditions of licence for this new service are set out in Appendix 2 to this decision.
In addition, the Commission approves in part the following application for a broadcasting licence to operate a new radio station in Kelowna: Vista Radio Ltd. Application 2006-0931-5, received 18 July 2006
So there's going to be 7 radio stations serving Kelowna???? With TV and newspapers...that's going to be mighty thin pickens for revenue...or am I missing something here?

Didn't say they were no good Poppa, just said "yikes". I agree with Flamer - don't go with too much that you read on here. Just my two cents. I know people that have worked for them and those that still do. Some like it, some don't. Obviously if EVERYONE disliked working for them, they'd have no staff.
Good programmer (Jason Mann), questionable VP (Paul Mann). Lots of turnover for a young company, some REALLY questionable management appointments in a lot of their markets. One market went on strike last year (Williams Lake), one had an entire department walk out (Duncan), they're BC with one Alberta stick, applying for licences in almost every market that comes up. Recently announced a program that said they were going to put a recruiting effort forward to hire immigrants that had worked in broadcasting in other countries. Everyone has their own opinion on that.
Will Kelowna be good? Maybe. It all depends on who they put in charge of the operation and how much corporate gets involved.
Good luck if that's where you choose to go. Let us know how it works out!
And yes, I've heard good things about FREE. I remember Pete as a pretty nice guy and knows his stuff.
Passion - "feeling very strongly about a subject or person, usually referring to feelings of intense desire and attraction."
Kelowna - "the largest city in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley with a metro population of 165,000. Because of the Okanagan's climate and vineyard-filled scenery, it has been compared to California."
K 963 - Kelowna's new Classic Rock radio station launching this Fall. 100% local programming all day, every day.

Hank you old smooth talker you!!!! How can the Vista management team NOT be blushing after that ringing indorsement! It almost (wiping a small tear away) sounds to good to be true!
Vista people don't listen to Hank...maybe you're true genius will shine thru with licence's in Fort McMurry, or Chilliwack or maybe right here in Vancouver....what...

Hahahaha... Zane, that was some funny stuff - well timed and not the least bit "ackward". I'm sure all the Vista people in Lethbridge and Medicine Hat got a good chuckle as well.
