Watch out what you do with those pictures you find floating around on the Internet, especially if you're a big honking Internet portal company with more money than it knows what to do with. An Ohio woman is going after Yahoo! for $US20 million, after the service allegedly used her picture in a welcome e-mail to new users. She says that the e-mail was sent to millions of users all over the world, thereby violating her right to privacy and her right to control the commercial use of her identity. Apparently she had sent two letters to Yahoo! in November, asking them to cease and desist. Now, she wants a jury trial, plus $10 million compensation for profits allegedly raked in from use of her likeness, and $10 million to cover legal fees (*Note To Self: should REALLY have gone to law school).
