If you work in an office, and you’ve got that nasty cold or flu, and you share a computer with other people, maybe you can point the finger of blame at your computer – specifically, the keyboard and mouse. Studies have shown that those two PC peripherals are pretty good at harboring nasty germs. In fact, Swedish boffins recently claimed that some keyboards contain more bacteria than public toilet seats. That’s why I take my keyboard into the shower with me once in a while – no kidding. Even better, take a look at the keyboard and rodent bundle from the Seal Shield company. They say that their products are the only ones which are capable of being fully submerged in water, and are even dishwasher safe, which makes them good candidates for use in healthcare facilities. They can also stand up to bleach, solvents, alkalines, and acids. Howard Hughes would have loved these, but you don’t have to be a multibillionaire to afford them: the retail price for the package is somewhere around $150US. Read more at ExtremeTech. |
