Puget Sound Radio  /  SportZone  /  Team 1410 Uses TSN Audio to Cover CFL

While out in the car late Saturday I wanted to check on the Edmonton-Saskatchewan game to see how the Lions' hopes were faring, and good news -- CFTE Team 1410 was carrying the game.  But I noticed the playbyplay was pretty sketchy ..lotsa analysis and commentary, with little factual description.

Then it occured to me .. that's the TSN crew I'm listening to!  So the Team couldn't make a deal with the Edmonton or Sask. radio types to carry a game with major overtones for the Leos?  Or maybe they didn't even try, but since TSN is a corporate sister, they figured to just grab a broadcast they didn't have to pay for.

TV football PBP is not adequate to serve the audio-only audience.  But maybe for these purposes, just knowing the current score was enough .. and we should be thankful that even TSN sound was available out of the house.

What do you think?   Does The Team get kudos .. or a thumbs down?

Boo -- cheap way out.  TV pbp and Radio pbp are totally different animals.  Thumbs down to Team for that poor effort, IMO.

Agreed!  Plus, Glen Suitor just doesn't look good on Radio. (Even though he does a show here in Saskatchewan LOL!)

Just kidding, Glen is a great colour guy IMHO.  My guess is not enough people in BC Care about the Lions, especially after the dismal season they had this year.  The Team DID take the cheap way out, but a good 'business' decision.

We used to air the CFL on TSN games quite regularly, but stopped for many of the reasons stated above IMO.

Due to playoff importance, they only decided to air Saturday's game after the Lions pulled out the win in Hamilton.
